Sunny Sweeney "Provoked"
Sweeney's take no attitude approach suits the Texan to a capital T. With a rough exterior Sweeney is truly captivating and all heart emotionally charged completely provoked the title of the album. Bad Girl Phase the first single from the album stands corrected, the colorfully charged anthem for women sits well, good girls everywhere have their inner bad bone. The lick of sound and sultry swag reminiscences of the late great Kitty Wells and Loretta Lynn combined on the opening track "You Don't Know Your Husband". Sweeney's vocal vulnerability on "Second Guesing" and "Carolina On The Line" will resonate with female and male listeners who've experienced heartache, divorce, making it between love and hate in their lives. Sunny's true raw authenticity and real accounts make it believeable. Track by track piece by piece Sunny's demeanor flows effortlessly on the romantic ballad "Find Me" to the honky tonkin' soulful "Can't Let Go". "My Bed" featuring Will Hoge has a sensual melodic tone making the pairing an excellent match. Let the real Sunny Sweeney stand up, "Backhanded Compliment" and "Everybody Else Can Kiss My Ass" is a woman who stands for who she is, all back bone. What you see is what you get. Clearly Sweeney declares her sarcastic wit and charm. Provoked makes sense on the 13 track album that include "Used Cars" and "Front Row Seats" previewed earlier this year from a live STAGE IT show online. The ballads "Uninvited" and "Sunday Dress" remind us we're not all the same not afraid to stand out in the crowd or show our truest colors. Credit alone goes to Sweeney and it's writers Angeelina Pressley, Ashley Monroe, Natalie Hemby, Brad and Brent Warren for bringing out the best in each other. Provoked is an album of this generation true country at it's finest.
